Walk and Talk Therapy

Instead of meeting in an office, we could do therapy as we walk. Walk and Talk therapy is oriented in somatic therapy. Many find movement helpful to reduce stress, and help with focus. Walking side- by- side allows some clients to feel more relaxed and comfortable when sharing. Being in nature is also a wonderful resource for many. This approach can be a great alternative to traditional therapy which is conducted in an office or over telehealth. Walk and Talk therapy requires an initial intake counseling session conducted in office or via online therapy.

WHAT TO EXPECT AND HOW LONG DOES WALK AND TALK THERAPY TAKE?

Think of this as a regular therapy session, but just with walking instead of sitting. We would agree upon a place to meet, perhaps a park or scenic walkway. We would walk and talk for about 50 minutes. We could talk about whatever you feel comfortable discussing. At times we may pause and notice the nature around. We would walk at a leisurely pace that felt comfortable to you. It’s also possible that we could find a quiet place to sit outside and talk. It would also be ok to do a walking therapy session every so often, and not every week. We can design a plan that works well for you!
